The easiest way to see whether DashScene will work well on a tablet is to test it on that device first. Android tablets with a Chromium-based browser are the best-supported option. Apple tablets can work in some cases, but support is limited.
IMPORTANT: Make sure the device you plan to use is in good, safe working condition. Do not use a device with battery swelling, charging problems, power problems, excessive heat, physical damage, or other signs of hardware failure.
Android tablets
DashScene requires Chromium 95 or newer as the browser engine. As a rough guide, that makes Android 5.1 or later the approximate minimum.
The simplest path is to use Chrome if it is available for the device.
1: Open the webapp in Chrome or your Chromium-based web browser
Open Google Chrome or another Chromium based browser and navigate to https://dash.dashscene.com.
2: Look for the pairing screen
If the device is compatible, DashScene will load and show the pairing screen. Follow the instructions to start the DashScene setup process.
3: Finish setup in DashScene Manager
On another device, visit the URL that shows up on the pairing screen, or scan the QR code on the tablet. Guided setup will walk you through creating your Dash, creating an account if needed, choosing a plan, and checking out.
4: Put DashScene in Full Screen mode
Once setup is complete and your Dash is displaying information, use the onscreen controls to put it in full screen mode. To do this, tap on the DashScene logo in the lower right hand corner of the screen. This will reveal the on-screen controls. Once revealed, click on the full screen button.
7: Enjoy DashScene
Once you complete the setup process all that is left is to enjoy.
iPad support
DashScene may not be fully compatible with iPadOS or iOS because of limitations in Apple’s browser engine.
It can sometimes work, and results will vary from device to device.
Safari is required for full screen
On iPadOS and iOS, full-screen use depends on Safari’s Add to Home Screen feature.
iOS / iPadOS 16 minimum
Older Apple mobile operating systems should be treated as unsupported for DashScene.
Results can vary
Some Apple devices may not behave consistently over time.
iPads
DashScene requires iOS/iPadOS 16 or newer.
The simplest path is to use Safari on the device to display DashScene.
1: Open DashScene
Open Safari and navigate to https://dash.dashscene.com.
2: Look for the pairing screen (don't do anything yet)
If the device is compatible, DashScene will load and show the pairing screen.
Do not follow the on-screen instructions to start the DashScene setup process just yet. We have to set up DashScene as a webapp first to enjoy the full screen experience.
3: Open the Share Menu
Open the share menu in Safari. Tap on Show More, then tap on Add to Home Screen. The Add to Home Screen dialogue will appear.
4: Add to Home Screen
On the Add to Home Screen dialog, tap on Add. DashScene will be added to your Home Screen as an icon. Tap on the DashScene icon on your Home Screen.
5: Look for the pairing screen (for real this time)
The pairing screen should appear, this time you may follow the instructions to start the DashScene setup process.
6: Finish setup in DashScene Manager
On another device, visit the URL that shows up on the pairing screen, or scan the QR code on the tablet. The guided setup will walk you through creating your Dash, creating an account if needed, choosing a plan, and checking out.
7: Keep DashScene visible
DashScene is easiest to use when your iPad stays on and ready at a glance. To prevent the screen from turning off automatically, open Settings, tap Display & Brightness, tap Auto-Lock, and select Never.
8: Enjoy DashScene
Once you complete the setup process all that is left is to enjoy.
Helpful setup notes
Yes, as long as it is still in good, safe working condition. Do not use a tablet with battery swelling, charging problems, excessive heat, physical damage, or other signs of hardware failure.
For Android tablets, DashScene works best with a Chromium-based browser using Chromium 95 or newer. As a rough guide, Android 5.1 or later is the approximate minimum.

The easiest way to tell if a tablet will work well with DashScene is to try the demo on that device first.
A stand is the simplest option. It keeps the tablet upright on a table, shelf, counter, or desk and is usually the easiest way to get started.
Wall mounting can work, but only with hardware or adhesive methods that are appropriate for the tablet and the surface. Some tablets have camera bumps or curved backs that prevent solid contact. Large removable adhesive strips may work for some flat-backed tablets, but only if the device, surface, and conditions are suitable. Make sure the mounting method provides adequate airflow, allows the tablet to dissipate heat properly, and does not trap excess heat against the wall. Always follow the hardware maker’s instructions and make sure the setup is secure before leaving it unattended.
Yes. DashScene works best when the screen stays on. Look up how to disable screen timeout, sleep, or auto-lock for your specific device.
Any display left on for long periods can experience image retention or burn-in, especially on some panel types. Use settings and hardware you are comfortable with, and follow the display maker’s recommendations.
No separate tablet app is required for this setup. If the browser is compatible, DashScene loads directly on the device.
